Bio

Dr. Steve Weeden is a fellowship-trained, board-certified, orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in adult reconstruction. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Texas A&M University at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. Dr. Weeden subsequently completed a fellowship in orthopaedic adult reconstruction under Dr. Wayne Paprosky, one of the world’s leading reconstructive surgeons, at Rush Presbyterian/Central DuPage Hospital in Chicago. He currently serves as Director of the Texas Hip and Knee Center Fellowship Program. Dr Weeden was one of the first group of surgeons performing minimally invasive hip and knee surgery, starting in 2002.

Dr. Weeden is active in the field of orthopaedic research, and is a frequent presenter at professional meetings. He has made numerous contributions to the literature of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He is heavily involved in surgeon education and research at Plaza Medical Center and has presented at numerous orthopaedic meetings, both nationally and internationally.

As a faculty member at the Smith & Nephew cadaver courses, Dr. Weeden focuses on teaching advanced surgical techniques in resurfacing, as well as primary and revision hip and knee surgery. Dr. Weeden also participates in the Visiting Surgeon Program, hosting visiting surgeons for instruction in both hip and knee techniques. Dr. Weeden is a member of the design team on hip and knee projects for Smith & Nephew and also provides feedback about Smith & Nephew products in the production and evaluation phases.
