Bio

Dr McGinley was accepted among thousands of candidates as an Insall Scott Fellow, one of the most demanding and prestigious programs in the world. During the fellowship, Dr McGinley was trained on cutting edge total joint reconstruction surgery, total joint revision surgery as well as biomechanical research and computer science. Dr McGinley is a Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS) expert due to his diverse experience with multiple CAS systems and his history of CAS instrument design and evaluation. He also is a member of the design teams for all generations of AchieveCAS. He has been a key surgeon design consultant regarding the integration of Smith & Nephew implant and design philosophies into the PiGALILEO Navigation System. He has the passion, excitement and knowledge that is critical for Smith & Nephew to attain market leadership in the orthopaedic CAS realm. Along with being an expert in CAS, Dr McGinley has also been trained in the BIRMINGHAM HIP Resurfacing System. He shares his enthusiasm by training Smith & Nephew sales representatives.

Professional Affiliations

Dr McGinley is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacements and sports medicine. He is known for his expertise in computer-assisted surgery developing new techniques since 2002, as well as his direct participation in CAS instrument design and evaluation. He holds a patent for instrumentation for CAS in total knee arthroplasty.

He is a frequent presenter to groups such as the Arthritis Foundation, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Orthopaedic Research Society. In addition to working extensively with high school and college athletes in the Port Jefferson area, he also served as PGA Physician for the US Open at Bethpage.
