Bio

Dr Bugbee is an orthopaedic surgeon with areas of expertise in joint reconstruction, arthritis surgery and cartilage transplantation.

A graduate of the University of California, San Diego, he currently serves as an associate professor for his alma mater’s Department of Orthopaedics. Prior to joining the Scripps Clinic, he served as its chief of arthritis surgery and joint reconstruction and as director of its cartilage transplantation program. His research includes studies of articular cartilage lubrication, osteochondral allograft preservation and the treatment of advanced cartilage defects.

He is a two-time recipient of the Western Orthopaedic Association’s Vernon P. Thompson Award, a recipient of its Lloyd Taylor award, and a two-time recipient of the University of California, (San Diego) Department of Orthopaedics Teaching Award.
